Asturies, Cultura en Rede
The image, which blends the traditional with the contemporary, constructs a visual metaphor for culture understood as a living network of connections within the map of Asturias. Through a model-like aesthetic – almost like carefully arranged collectable figures or miniatures – it depicts a cultural ecosystem in which different people and disciplines are linked together by taut threads that function as nodes of connection, exchange and movement.

Each figure represents a discipline within the “Asturies, cultura en rede” programme: the musician symbolises music; the cameraman, cinema; the children sitting in a circle around a storyteller, oral storytelling and literature; the mime artist, the performing arts; the painter, the visual arts; the dancer, traditional culture; and the children playing with a skipping rope, traditional games and Asturian history. The public also forms part of this ecosystem, which is why they are depicted approaching this group as part of the network.
The map, woven with thread, encapsulates the central concept of the image and the fundamental purpose of the project: weaving implies connecting, sustaining and creating community (promoting the work of professional Asturian creators, contributing to the economic development and employment of the regions, and generating a high-quality and diverse cultural offering).
The image developed maintains clear visual consistency with previous pieces from ‘Asturies, Cultura en Rede’, reinforcing the identity through the continued use of its colour palette, the presence of yellow as the dominant colour, and a typographic composition aligned with the established visual language. This continuity helps to build a consistent and recognisable image, making it easier for the public to identify each new application as part of the same visual universe. Thus, the proposal not only expands the initiative’s graphic system but also consolidates a distinct identity that is robust and easily associated with the programme.
The network occupies the centre of the composition and acts as a symbolic map of the territory. The golden threads link the figures together, showing that
culture does not exist in isolation, but through human connections that span spaces, generations and creative languages
