Asturian Science Day
Since 2008 Asturias celebrates annually the Asturian Science Day to involve the promotion of the Asturian language in sectors that until then were not directly committed to this objective. The event coincides with the annual celebration of the International Science Day organized by Unesco.

MOTIVA AWARD 2009 for Best Advertising Graphics
In this first year, the day was dedicated to the mathematician Predayes (Agustín Pedrayes), born in Lastres, who participated in the creation of the International Metric System in Paría in 1744.
In the realization of the graphic image of this day we joined the concepts of mathematics and Asturias, with a letter “a” of Asturias raised to the power 08, in reference to the year of celebration. This “formula” was drawn on a school blackboard to give it a more formative meaning.
The photograph taken by Iván Martínez of the handwritten monogram is the basis for all the graphic.
