Igualoo didactic materials for equality and cooperation work
The Women’s Foundation, a leading organisation in the defence of equal opportunities between women and men, entrusted us with the development of an educational kit aimed at working on human rights from a gender perspective, aimed at primary and secondary school pupils.
The result is Igualoo, a project based on a name with an inclusive and pedagogical vocation: a combination of ‘equality’ and ‘cooperation’, which also alludes to the verb ‘to equalise’ in the first person. This naming was the starting point to build a friendly, approachable and accessible visual identity, with rounded shapes and a typography designed to facilitate reading for people with reading difficulties.
The kit consists of 4 didactic units for primary education, 4 didactic units for secondary education and a board game.
To guarantee a good educational experience and a clear differentiation by age, two chromatic palettes were developed: a more lively and playful one for primary school (red, blue, green and yellow), and another one with desaturated versions for secondary school, maintaining the visual coherence of the brand.
In addition to the editorial design of the units and the game board, the following were created:
Cover illustrations with cartoon aesthetics and adapted messages.
A system of icons and characters that accompany students on their journey through the materials.
A reusable packaging in kraft cardboard, without direct printing: the identity is applied by means of a manual stamp, reinforcing the sustainable commitment of the project.
To extend the scope of the kit, a website was also developed from which all the materials can be accessed without the need for the physical format. In addition, a digital and interactive version of the game was designed for use in the classroom or in virtual learning environments.
‘Igualoo’ is a tool that is committed to education as an engine for change, and to design as a way to communicate with clarity, empathy and purpose.
