Unique Piece exhibition 2000-2021
Unique Piece exhibition 2000-2021, a retrospective exhibition of the Unique Piece of Asturias Craftwork competition.
The exhibition is composed of the collection of 21 pieces awarded in the Unique Piece Crafts of Asturias competition organized annually by the Ministry of Industry, Employment and Economic Promotion of the Principality of Asturias.
In order not to intervene on any of the walls or columns of the historic building that houses it, the Column Courtyard of the Palace of the Counts of Toreno in Oviedo, independent self-supporting structures were designed to hold the unique pieces and display cases with their own lighting for the more regular sized pieces. We used a sustainable material, laminated poplar wood, to make the pieces stand out against the background and give them the importance they deserve, while giving the display a minimalist and modern character. When designing the display cases, we have taken into account the lighting (adjustable LED) which does not interfere with the view of the pieces and further emphasizes their prominence.
For the graphic image a lettering has been designed, in which each letter is different in its shapes and colours to represent the diversity of ‘pieces’ in: materials, techniques, authors and themes, which come together to form a Unique Piece. A palette of bright colours has been created to emphasize the uniqueness of each ‘piece’ but at the same time generate attractive and powerful graphics.
