The Canfranc Express
The Canfranc Express, experience the Pyrenees on rails.
This project aims to value to the tourist attraction on the Sabiñánigo – Jaca – Canfranc 30 km railway line. It combines the historic train with the landscape. The opening of the old Canfranc International Station and its conversion into a luxury hotel has created a manifest interest: record tourism in 2023 in the Alto Gállego region.
For the proposal of the brand’s logo, we have synthesised the image of the Canfranc Station and the train.
An iconographic element was created, that unites the dome of Canfranc station with the front of the train engine, with its characteristic curved bands and the central bulb. This simplification gives rise to an isotype with a great sense of depth, which allows the train engine to be seen approaching the spectator, while alluding to the entrance to the station with its dome and its art deco forms. The central triangle of the façade and the lines drawing the tracks are also a reference to the Pyrenean mountains.
The logo in two lines and thicknesses draws the sleepers on the perspective of the lines of the tracks.
The Art Deco style is what defines the architecture of Canfranc Station as well as the style that decorated the trains of the time, which is why the whole image of The Canfranc Express is influenced by this artistic movement.
